Social distancing day 3: puppet show

Today I decided to try and tackle a couple of things at the same time.  Wren is missing her friends from school so I though it might be nice if we do something to try and connect with them.  I thought a video might be fun but I didn't want it to be just my daughter rambling away but something that used some time and creativity to put together.

We did a little bit of a discussion and she decided on a puppet show.  We made three puppets out of socks.  I gathered a bunch of materials and then we discussed what types of puppets we wanted to make and decided what materials would make sense.  For Flynt I kept his choices pretty simple: do you want pompoms or buttons for eyes? or What color ears do you want to make for your kitty cat?

I used a hot glue gun to assemble the puppets.  I let Wren point to the location she wanted the glue and push the pieces into the glue on her puppet.  Flynt isn't ready for this yet so I glued his together for him.

The kids really enjoyed this process and played with the puppets for a long time without any supervision and had some good imagination time while I made lunch and cleaned up.

Later in the afternoon it was time to make the puppet show.  Flynt decided he wanted to be part of the audience so Wren and I made the puppet show.  It was as bad as a puppet show by a 4 year old is supposed to be but she had so much fun and we sent it to her classmates in the hopes that they make a project of their own and share it with us.  I feel like this was a complete success.

Unfortunately, Blogger doesn't support videos longer enough to post the 1 minute and 50 second puppet show, so here is the first half of it.

Or see the whole thing in this utube link.
