social distancing day 4: rock hunting

Today I planned on getting materials for an art project, but we had so much fun we didn't have time to do the art project today.

This afternoon was lovely so we climbed on Clementine, our orange family bike and rode off to the Boise river, a couple miles away to a nice rocky beach.  There were a ton of people out and about on the green belt (I honestly don't know if I've ever seen it this busy without an event happening) but we had the rocky beach to ourselves.

The goal was to come home with a small bag of river rocks for art projects.  I think Wren picked up 3 rocks and lost focus and Flynt got maybe one rock and a stick but I enjoyed searching for interesting rocks and ones that were pretty.  The kids enjoyed exploring the rocks for a while.  There was some cool stacked rocks that Flynt had to knock down (so sorry to who ever stacked them).  Then they found the old fallen trees that were fun to climb all over and explore.

We spent a long time there and probably could have played longer if it wasn't almost dinner time.  What a lovely afternoon!
